The Canadian Program Acquisition Managers main responsibility is to work within the Canadian independent production community to seek out productions that would enhance the WNED broadcast schedule serving our Canadian audiences. Another area is to build relationships with the independent production community to be able to identify qualified production personnel to refer to the WNED Production Department to serve as freelance staff for WNED funded projects.

Interact with the Canadian independent production Community for the purpose of finding and acquiring Canadian television productions that would enhance The WNED broadcast schedule.

Coordinates with Education & Outreach regarding newly acquired programs/series.

Develop acquisition budget and manage it.

Assists Corporate Communications and Programming with the promotion.

Qualifications and Education Required:
College degree required.
3-5 years experience in television programming/acquisition.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
Excellent writing ability.
Organized, creative, has leadership ability, shows initiative.
Works well under pressure, works independently, manages time effectively.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, overnights and weekends.
Must have a working knowledge of production procedures.
