ATTENTION VIEWERS IN GENESEE, ORLEANS AND WYOMING COUNTIES
On November 17, WNED was dropped from Time Warner’s basic cable (analog) tier in Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming Counties. However, WNED is still available on Channel 3 for customers who have a digital cable box. This situation came as a result of national negotiations between the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and the Association of Public Television Stations (APTS).
In the end, Time Warner was given the choice to decide which public television station would become their primary source of PBS programming in their area. In the three counties mentioned above, Time Warner designated WXXI (from Rochester) as the primary station. (In Erie and Niagara Counties, Time Warner designated WNED as the primary station.) A positive outcome of these discussions is that Time Warner has reported that our sister station ThinkBright will be available on their services on Channel 431. |
