Chances are, most members of the baby boom generation will face significant challenges caring for aging or ill relatives. This four-part series, hosted by broadcaster and experienced caregiver Susan Hunt, offers an insightful, proactive and practical exploration of caregiving. The broadcasts were the centerpiece of a three-year public awareness campaign sponsored by the American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter. Each features advice from experts and personal stories from caregiving families.
Part I: Identifying caregivers; caregiving basics, the national crisis of caregiving, family meetings, and legal/financial documents.
Part II: Day-to-day challenges for caregiving families; “how-to” care for a loved one at home, including tips on nutrition, personal care and home safety; caring for the caregiver.
Part III: Diverse care options, including adult day care, assisted living and in-home care.
Part IV: Emergency Preparedness for Caregivers: how to create an emergency action plan geared to older adults.
