THE PAN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE

WNED Airdate: Oct. 19, 2001

To many, the shining moment in the history of Buffalo, N.Y., occurred at the dawn of the 20th century. Electric light was the star attraction at Buffalo’s 1901 World’s Fair: the Pan-American Exposition. In many ways, this grand spectacle marked a turning point –- for technology, national leadership and a city’s future. Segments in this chronicle of the “City of Light’s” defining event include: “A Grand Plan,” “Spend a Day at the Fair,” and “The Nation Changes at Buffalo, which recalls the infamous assassination of President William McKinley.

Funding provided by:  The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and The National Endowment for the Humanities.
