Stefan Sanders re "An American Siddhartha" with Lehrer Dance

Stefan Sanders, artistic advisor and conductor of a project called "An American Siddhartha" speaks with WNED about this event, part of the celebration of Lehrer Dance’s 10th Anniversary Season, in which Hermann Hesse’s classic novel SIDDHARTHA has inspired a new collaboration between Lehrer Dance and the BPO. With symphonic and choral repertoire, Buffalo’s internationally renowned dance company re-imagines man’s quest for enlightenment, wisdom and love.

BPO Resident Conductor Sanders and Jon Lehrer, Founder and Artistic Director of Lehrer Dance collaborated using Lehrer Dance’s signature style and classical masterworks by composers from Albinoni to Whitacre.

On Friday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m. at UB's Center for the Arts, Sanders will conduct the program’s first half, which features pieces meant to introduce some of the sub-themes in the work: love, friendship, and fidelity. BPO Music Director JoAnn Falletta will conduct the second half, "An American Siddhartha." For ticket information, contact directly the UB Center for the Performing Arts at 716-645-2787, or visit ubcfa.org.
