Composer Darryl Glenn Nettles re: Buffalo opera Unlimited's Stag Lee

Inspired by stories collected by Harlem Renaissance writers Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes, Buffalo born composer Darryl Glenn Nettles created a one act, hour long “verismo” opera about a famous bar fight between Lee Sheldon and William Lyons.  “Stag Lee” pairs well with George Gershwin’s shorter one act opera “Blue Monday” – also about a shooting in a bar – Friday May 16th at 8 and Sunday May 18th at 2:30 at 710 Main Street (the old Studio Arena) in presentations by Buffalo Opera Unlimited and The Lehrer Dance Company.  WNED’s Peter Hall found out more.
