Billy the Kid and the Regulators, finalists in the 2014 International Blues Challenge, to headline

BUFFALO, N.Y. – WNED ǀ WBFO Buffalo-Toronto is pleased to announce the 2014 WBFO’s Buffalo Blues Bash on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in the WNED ǀ WBFO studios.

Headlining WBFO’s Buffalo Blues Bash is Billy the Kid and the Regulators, a high powered, guitar driven, rhythm and blues band based in Pittsburgh. Lead singer Billy Evanochko is widely-known across the Steel City for his impassioned lyrics, seductive vocals, and stinging guitar riffs. Together with his band, The Regulators, they deliver a well-balanced dose of funky rhythm and blues, with heart and soul being the main ingredient.  Billy the Kid and the Regulators were finalists at the 2014 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn.

Opening for the event is local favorite the Tommy Z Band. Tommy Z is a contemporary blues guitarist/singer/songwriter/producer. Though he is a guitar-driven electric blues-based stylist onstage, in the studio Tommy composes a variety of music.

“Last year’s Buffalo Blues Bash was a huge success,” said WNED ǀ WBFO president and CEO Donald K. Boswell. “It’s a testament to how deeply rooted blues music is in our community and we’re thrilled to bring this event back again in 2014.”

WNED | WBFO continues its commitment to bringing top performing acts to the event, along with fostering local talent. Headlining last year’s sold-out event was the Selwyn Birchwood Band, winners of the 2013 International Blues Challenge, and the opening performers were Buffalo blues favorite, Dive House Union.

Tickets are $18 for WNED ǀ WBFO members and $20 for advanced purchase. The price increases to $25 when bought at the door the night of the event, if the event isn’t sold out.  Food, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
