BUFFALO, N.Y. – Explore the sights and sounds around the Niagara region that are keeping the War of 1812 alive in the WNED-TV produced program “1812 on the Niagara Frontier,” airing Tuesday, April 23 at 8 p.m. on WNED-TV. The program will repeat on Friday, April 26 at 10 p.m. and 1:30 a.m.
The War of 1812 is one of the most important historical events to happen along the Niagara Frontier. “1812 on the Niagara Frontier” serves as the companion program to the two-hour PBS documentary “The War of 1812,” also produced by WNED. “The War of 1812” is a comprehensive film history that examines 1812 to 1815, when Americans battled against the British, Canadian colonists and Native warriors in a conflict that forged the destiny of a continent.
Viewers are able to travel to some of the sites around the Niagara region that played a crucial role in the War. From cannon firings and musket demonstrations, to interactive museums and costumed reenactments, “1812 on the Niagara Frontier” captures the passion of these locations.
