CLASSICAL 94.5 WNED ANNOUNCES "YOUNG PERFORMERS" RADIO PROGRAM

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Classical 94.5 WNED is pleased to announce the launch of the new “Young Performers” radio program.

“Young Performers” will feature the most accomplished, young, regional musicians from Western New York, Southern Ontario, and Northwestern Pennsylvania. The live classical performances of vocal and instrumental soloists and groups will be recorded at the WNED studios or on location so that that they may be broadcast within the community at a time dedicated to celebrating their music. The new series is recognizing area youth who are accomplishing something positive and culturally significant through music.

“We are really looking forward to showcasing the fine young classical musicians in this area,” said Gabe DiMaio, Classical 94.5 WNED program director. “This program will celebrate youth doing something musically meaningful which fits perfectly with the mission of Classical 94.5 WNED.”
The proposed schedule includes 13 programs aired weekly during Sunday’s Regional Classics block (6 – 8 p.m.) Selections for the program will be made on the strength of the musical performance as decided by the producers of Young Performers.  Soloists and small groups will be recorded at the WNED studios. Larger groups will be recorded on location.

Student classical musicians in high school or younger may apply to be on the program.  Musicians must live within the broadcast area of Classical 94.5 WNED and not be enrolled in a college or musical conservatory.

Interested musicians may visit wned.org/youngperformers to find out how to apply. No enhanced or digitally manipulated video/audio will be accepted.

“Young Performers” is being funded by the Smith Foundation.  For more information, please call (716) 845-7016 or visit wned.org/youngperformers.
