BUFFALO, N.Y. – As part of special programming, WNED-TV will air “Alfie Boe: Live from the Royal Festival, London” on Saturday, June 16 at 9 p.m.
Alfie Boe, best known for his role as Jean Valjean in the 25th anniversary stage show of Les Misérables, showcases his mesmerizing and outstanding voice in a concert filmed during his latest sold-out tour.
Known as “The People’s Favorite Tenor,” Boe delights with a truly magical performance that highlights his magnificent stage presence as he performs a selection of uniquely inspired renditions from some of the best-loved musicals of all time, including Sunset Boulevard, Company, West Side Story and, of course, Les Misérables, with Boe performing his own emotive interpretation of “Bring Him Home” accompanied by Claude-Michel Schönberg, one of the writers of the score.
Boe is joined onstage by Melanie C for a powerful interpretation of “Come What May” from Moulin Rouge. Other selections that showcase Boe’s ability to connect to the lyrics include Ewan MacColl’s heartfelt “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and an emotional performance of Martina McBride’s “In My Daughter’s Eyes.” A rousing medley of James Bond theme songs rounds out the diverse collection of material.
