BUFFALO, N.Y.—As part of special programming, WNED-TV will air “Nikolai Baskov: Romantic Journey” on Wednesday, September 21 at 8 p.m.
“Nikolai Baskov: Romantic Journey” features Russia’s most popular tenor, 34-year-old international star Nikolai Baskov, in a legendary concert performance at Moscow’s Hall of the Luzhniki Arena. Accompanied by a full orchestra, Baskov plays to an enthusiastic crowd of nearly 10,000 people and performs classic pieces from Tosca, La Bohème, Werther, Turandot, and other favorites such as “Be My Love,” “Granada,” “Back to Sorrento,” and many others. World-renowned soprano Montserrat Caballe and her daughter, Montserrat Marti, join Baskov for several rousing duets.
Baskov is Russia’s only crossover artist, performing both classical and pop music styles, topping charts and selling millions of songs. He holds the titles “Gold Voice of Russia,” “Honored Artist of Russia,” and the “People’s Artist of Ukraine.” Baskov has played on the most prestigious opera stages in the world, including those in Spain, Italy, Germany and Switzerland, among others.
