BUFFALO, N.Y. – WNED’s Horizons Gallery will host "Photos by the Buffalo Science Museum Camera Club 2012” April 30-May 18. The event is free and open to the public weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery is located in the WNED studios at 140 Lower Terrace, across from the Adam’s Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo. Free parking is available.
An opening reception, also free and open to all, will take place Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m.
Showcasing the extensive artistic talents of club members, the photographs on display feature broad themes, ranging from architecture and landscapes to birds and bugs. All captured during the past year, the images depict mostly the Buffalo area, but some were taken in the Southern Tier and nearby states.
"We’re a community of photographers coming together from all walks of life in Buffalo ¾ which makes for a terrific mix of subjects, points of view and photographic styles," said President Robert Carey. “Our purpose is to share and help each other improve; sharing with the Buffalo community takes that purpose to a wider audience. We thank WNED for making this possible and look forward to listening to what the Buffalo community sees in our photography.”
About the Buffalo Science Museum Camera Club
Open to anyone interested in photography, this group offers informative talks, programs (including field trips) and friendly competition. Founded in 1939 with a focus on nature photography, members now photograph a variety of subjects, including wildlife, landscapes, still life, people, places and events. Club members have gone on to become professional photographers; some have presented their images through local, national and international competitions, exhibitions and publications. Experienced members mentor those new to photography. The club meets twice each month (except during the summer) at the Buffalo Museum of Science.
