The mission of the Western New York Public Broadcasting Association is to provide
programming and services that entertain, enlighten, enrich and educate. The unique
opportunities developed at WNED provide a vehicle for Foundations and Corporate Giving
Programs to achieve their objectives, as well.
WNED
initiatives produce quality programming, create meaningful education and outreach
initiatives, and invest in new technology to help ensure the Western New York Public
Broadcasting Association continues to serve the people of this area well into the 21st
Century.
What are
the Benefits?
Support for
WNED means many people can benefit from the investments made by Foundations and Corporate
Giving Programs. Approximately 2,500,000 households tune into WNED-TV each week. WNED
often collaborates with cultural, educational and public benefit agencies, as well as
foundations, to target large numbers of people with education and outreach initiatives,
and help other non-profit organizations succeed in their goals.
As a PBS
station, WNED recognizes the role it can play in producing quality national programming
that will enhance the image of the region.
WNED
affords Foundations and Corporate Giving Programs unique opportunities to let their
support of public broadcasting initiatives be known to people throughout the community
with on-air television and radio spots, as well as recognition in OnAir, the member
magazine and program guide of the WNED stations. While WNED respects the desire of some
foundations to do their work without public acknowledgement, others find support for WNED
is an effective and meaningful way of letting the community know how their efforts are
making a difference for people in this area.
