As a community builder and a skillful fundraiser, Lisa LaTrovato, MBA, brings an ideal set of skills and experience to her role as the new Director of Leadership & Legacy Giving Programs at Buffalo Toronto Public Media.
LaTrovato began her career serving as a Congressional Liasion for the late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and later spent 15 years at the Children's Hospital of Buffalo Foundation overseeing major gifts, events, gift solicitations, grants, annual funds, public relations, and marketing. She played an integral role in helping to raise the $52 million capital campaign goal to help build the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital. Always up for a new way to engage her fundraising skills, LaTrovato served as the Director of Development at the Hauptman- Woodward Medical Research Institute from 2019 to 2023. During her time at HWI she developed and launched the “HWI Young Professionals Program” which taught young professionals fundraising skills and board relations while helping HWI raise critical funds for research.
She is the founder of “Jennie's Circle," a giving circle that focuses on organizations that help with mental health in all ages and backgrounds, and “Fifty Fabulous Women Giving Circle," which supports small local not-for-profits that serve women and children in WNY.
In addition, she has been nominated for the prestigious Athena Award twice, recognized as a Woman of Influence by Buffalo Business First, and was inducted into her High School Hall of Fame at Gates-Chili High School in Rochester in 2022.
“We could not be more thrilled to add Lisa and her expertise to our team,” said Sylvia Bennett, Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer. “Her strong connection to our community and proven track record of service is an asset to be envied and admired!”
