Rotterman Promoted to WNED | WBFO Sr. VP and Chief Content Officer

David Rotterman, WNED | WBFO’s longtime Vice President for Television Production, will assume the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Content Officer for the organization, beginning July 1, 2018. Rotterman will assume responsibility for management and oversight of all WNED | WBFO content activities, and will be the leader for the development, creation and distribution of the organization’s content, education services, and community engagement.

“Dave will lead WNED | WBFO in its continued transition from traditional broadcast to digital content production and distribution,” said CEO Donald Boswell. “Dave’s steady hand and thoughtful leadership will help our company maintain its high standards and creativity as we explore the many opportunities in the ever-growing and ever-changing media landscape.”

Rotterman joined WNED-TV in January 2000 and has served as executive producer for a number of documentaries, including Frederick Law Olmsted: Designing America, The Klondike Gold Rush, The War of 1812, Elbert Hubbard: An American Original, Fort Niagara: Struggle for a Continent, The Shaw Festival: Behind the Curtain and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Buffalo, which were all broadcast nationwide on PBS. He was also the Executive in Charge of Production for Underground Railroad: The William Still Story, The Adirondacks and Buffalo Philharmonic: Seasons of Life, all of which were broadcast on PBS. In addition, Rotterman has served as the Executive Producer for all of WNED’s local initiatives over the past 18 years, including b-Healthy for Life, Target Prevention, Our Town, Remembering Crystal Beach Park and Buffalo’s Houses of Worship.

John Grant, President and Executive Producer of Driftwood Productions, who had been overseeing WNED | WBFO’s content areas, will work directly with Boswell as a production/content consultant on new national and special project development, fundraising, and production. Grant will continue to serve as producer and executive producer for national and special projects.

“We are grateful to John for the important role he has played in overseeing significant growth of both audience and revenue for WBFO and the implementation of changes that improved the listening experience on Classical 94.5 WNED, which resulted in an increase in ratings and a first-class sound,” Boswell said. “We look forward to his continued contributions to WNED | WBFO, our projects and productions.”

As part of this reorganization, WNED | WBFO will be recruiting for a new position of Senior Director of Television Production.
