Companion Booklet
Frederick Law Olmsted: Designing America
A companion resource for the PBS documentary
The project companion booklet was created to support the film and is a resource that speaks to the production and outreach efforts. It contains a written essay by Olmsted himself on parks, parkways and pleasure-grounds, an overview of Central Park and its developmental 150 year history, a review about Olmsted’s work in Buffalo, New York and the continuing work of the National Association of Olmsted Parks. The 8-page document in a PDF format can be downloaded or printed for a variety of uses in the classroom or for your general interest.
